MAASTRICHT, NETHERLANDS

This is the town closest to us and, despite having been there a hundred times, we've never taken any photos. So these are a couple taken by Claire Grainger when she visited. She also took some in Brussels.

There was a winter fair in the Vrijtof square (ooh, poetry). In the background is the striking cathedral.

The Vrijtof is where we spent our first New Year over here. At midnight the square exploded as the many cafes, bars and restaurants that line it contributed their own little boxes of fireworks to the mayhem. We've seen bigger fireworks but never so many.

Since we are very rarely in the photos we take you might be forgiven for suspecting that we haven't actually been to all the places shown on the website. So, here is proof that we were in Maastricht having just looked round the cathedral.
